Would anyone be interested in doing a mock auction to see how this auction will work? I know some of you were concerned since you have never done it before. By no means would this be a requirement, but if we had enough show interest we could do it. Obviously you won't get the full picture if not quite everyone is engaged. But if we had about 12-15 people doing it then you could at least see how the auctions run. I can duplicate the spreadsheet so we can just delete everything eventually. And as players are won I would just delete the thread on proboards. What do you say?

Feel like it could be confusing for some people who think it's real. Also, I would prefer not to participate so I can keep my strategies secret. That being said, if some people want to do it, go for it

Since I've never done an auction draft, I would be open to doing a mock auction.

To avoid any confusion with the "Real Auction" I can create a separate proboards page specifically for the mock auction. Setting up the page would only take a few minutes since I would just have to do a few things. Again I am just trying to help out those of you who are new to this concept.

I would like those first time bidders have a chance to try this new format of auctioning. Allow them to test it out first and get a feel for it. I also suggest people give their opinions to coach those new owners a bit so they can see the ins and outs of an auction. For example, like Bert/STL said some people like increasing the bid by the minimum instead of upping a bid by $5. If some people see a $5 jump then obviously that owner really wants a particular player. Well unless that $5 increase is simply placed to run up a bid on a player.

I wouldn't participate but see no harm. You could always run through it with a few legends like Ruth or aaron

I think the mock auction would be a good exercise, but as Atlanta pointed out, he doesn't want to participate so people would see his strategy. Understood, but there is certainly something to be gained by watching the others. And this is my point. I don't think you should be able to view the proceedings unless you are actually participating. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I'm sure you could set it so only those involved could view it. Whatchuthink?

I agree. I think we are going to do this regardless of how many do it. It will help the people that want to know how to do it. It will help them understand how this process will run but maybe not necessarily in depth strategy. But at least you guys will have a feel for it. I have gone ahead and created the separate proboards page. It took me all of 3 minutes. And the spreadsheet took me all of 15 seconds. I will PM you the proboards page if you have agreed to do it. If you want to do it please let me know. If I haven't heard from you I will assume you are not going to participate. If you said you wouldn't participate and you want to change your mind that's fine, but everyone please know I expect everyone that gets a PM to this proboards page to participate and be active.
