Well it seems after discussion and from what Toronto suggested was to add not really change, now adding it as a way to eliminate ties makes sense. Ties have no place in the results.

To eliminate ties, you would have to have an odd number of categories. That would mean having an extra hitting or pitching category making one more valuable to the other. That isn't fair to teams. If you add an extra pitching category it puts teams who assembled an offensive heavy team at a disadvantage.

We have 13 categories now R HR RBI SB TB OBP IP* K ERA WHIP K/BB QS SVH so adding the wins would balance it out as 14 or the hits like Toronto also suggested would bring it to 15. Besides I think that Josh's suggestion might have been to use this as a tiebreaker, so that if you win 6 categories and I win 6 and we tie ERA then our game ends in a tie, if we have a tiebreaker then someone wins the game 7-6 and there is no tie. With your team having more starters then relievers the chance that you might have gotten more wins from a starter is higher. So let's say we had this tie breaker in place and those 3 ties you finished with, were wins via tiebreaker, you would have been ahead of the Dodgers. The issue here seems to be a system related one similar to the unbalanced schedule

This is definitely no slight change in things so all opinions are welcomed and needed, because no matter how strongly Josh and I or anyone for that matter feels about this situation we must do what's best for the league. I would be very interested to see if Wins and hits were added how it would change the complexion of the league. I think there are very interesting arguments for these to be added and a lot of justifiable points made by Toronto and NYY. However, hearing owners explicitly stated that they drafted their initial roster around these specific cats would most certainly have me siding with no change. I wouldn't mind the adjustment that would proabably have to be made to strategy for myself, but we cannot just expect owners to adapt because wins alone is something you can stream/search for and it could definitely change the way owners feel about some of their players/others. Just an example: I'm in another league that had categories added after season 1. During season 1 I traded Clayton Keyshaw, in the offseason K/BB ratio was added as a category... If I would have known this I don't believe I would have proceeded with the trade. It just changes too much of what owners have already done. But I would really love to hear some more points from additional owners!

While I like the wins category and the hits category, I do not think it is fair to change the stat category to include wins and hits, as some say they built their team without these categories in mind. This is a great league and I like it. The best argument I heard for adding categories was to break ties.

Gotcha on the IP's so even though it showed one team leading it it's not a category, so probably we would have needed to put in a tie breaker when we decided these in the beginning.

My one suggestion is going to Net Stolen Bases replacing SB. This penalizes the fleet-of-foot who are more flat-of-foot. In short in makes it a more realistic category. Who doesn't want that?

Hi Josh,I know I had an issue with ties and it was brought up that maybe wins could be a tie breaker, so I was just wondering what are the full list of categories available to us from Yahoo, maybe there is something we could use that isn't a problem for everyone

Adding a category is going to be a problem for people, that changes the dynamic of the league. People based there strategy off of the original categories. By adding cats that could change things.

Someone already mentioned this earlier but you can't have uneven amount of Pitching and Hitting categories either as that would put more emphasis on certain players.

There is no way to avoid ties in a H2H-One Win league without having unbalanced scoring categories.

Now Yahoo only awards victories based upon who wins the category? They don't have any point based categories? Example I am playing the Angels based on his players performance over the course of the week with let's say a homerun being worth 4 points his players put up 300pts mine 276, he wins the game. Still head to head still the same categories but now they just have point totals, if for instance we both get 300 pts tiebreaker is most triples. I am just wondering if Yahoo does anything like that.
