This "valid" bid stood for 24 hrs, the required amount of time.
The bid KC placed after the above bid is/was invalid for two reasons;

Rule 34 - "you are not allowed to place a bid, or multiple bids, if the amount(s) you bid will take you over your salary cap."
At the time of KC's follow up bid of 4 yrs @ $2.45 he only had $2.12 available salary

Rule 38 - "... If you wish to gain extra salary for bidding you can drop a player either before or during the auction to free up cap space." 
KC did not announce a corresponding move.

So according to these two rules, KC placed an invalid bid resulting in SP S. Alcantara (MIA) being awarded to the Cubs.
Please place SP S. Alcantara onto our Upper Minors.
