Blue Jays trade
Robinson Cano 12.8/2 yrs Byron Buxton 9.00/5 yrs -Upper Minors Mickey Moniak (prospect) Josh Staumont (prospect) 2.8 cash 2017 only
Giants trade
Jose Altuve 19.0/5 yrs Matt Chapman (prospect) Travis Demeritte (prospect) 2nd round pick 2018
Reasoning: Had to give up some serious assets to get a serious player. Giants and I have been working on this a few weeks, came to this agreement.

I agree
Reasoning: Robby Cano isnt much of a downgrade over Altuve and will be a cheaper cost long term. Ive got other options at 2B, so i may even look to flip Cano. Ive been a fan of Buxtons and still see the talent even with him looking lost at the plate at the moment. Top prospect Moniak makes the deal worth while and Staumomt is a hot pitching prospect as well off to a nice start to 2017. Dealing Chapman and the pick werent ideal, but i needed to make room for the new guys anyway and the pick waa the cost of not dragging negotiations further along.
I assign Buxton to upper minors for now.

I am vetoing this because it's basically buxton+cano
For altuve...
In terms of contract.
Not ONE person would say this is even close. Altuve is a top top player ane cano is not
Meanwhile, giants are giving up two great prospects as well...

Moniak is a top 20 prospect in all of baseball at 18. In a couple years he will probably be top 5, Matt Chapman hit a cool .237 last year I don't imagine that translating well to the MLB so I don't see him as a great prospect. And Demeritte hasn't hit about .272 in full season minor league baseball and struck out 175 times in 455 ABs, striking out 38% of the time. Giants got the best prospect in the deal. Do I think it is lopsided a bit (2nd round pick should taken out IMO)? Yes but I personally don't think it warrants a veto at this point.
That is my POV on it

Trade Passed. Please check for accuracy.
I will process the trade on Yahoo in the morning as I can't right now because players involved played a game today.
