Theme of the day is unloading the areas of depth to get younger and cheaper for 2019 and beyond. I acquired Matt Olson in a previous trade awaiting league approval, so he can man 1B for me, cheaper in years 2019 and beyond. I only had one more year of control on Gausman and will look to replace him via free agency. Coverage isnt onerous only for 2018, as I still have plenty of flexibility to add some other pieces and I'll add some flexibility in 2019 with Davis' contract off the books. Between Chapman and Andujar hopefully one of them pans out and fills my currently open 3B spot. I wasnt too thrilled with the free agency options there. If both pan out that'll be gravy. The pick upgrade is nice as I'm looking to consolidate picks and move up in the draft to get more quality versus the quantity of picks I currently have.
I will drop Josh Staumont to make room for Miguel Andujar on my minor league roster.
