LAD trades:
Dansby Swanson - 2nd year of rookie contract Willie Calhoun (Prospect) Christin Stewart (Prospect) Monte Harrison (Prospect) 2019 3rd round pick (LAD)
KC trades:
Trevor Story - $13.10/3 years Ryan McMahon (Prospect) Ramon Laureano (Prospect) Wuilmer Becerra (Prospect) $13.10 cash in 2018 and 2019 $6.55 cash in 2020
LAD reason: It started out just an inquiry about McMahon who I am a big fan of for a long time. He also fits my need for a future 1B if/when I lose Abreu to FA. Story came into the picture a little later. I'm also a fan of his, but he comes with a little bit of risk, hence why I asked for the cap coverage. But with that also comes the sacrifice of talent which I gave plenty of in this deal. I am very high on Willie and Stewart, but I am loaded in the OF and at 2B so those pieces I could afford to move. I think we both got what we wanted out of this deal. He added even more talent to his prospects list for his rebuild and I added a 1B/3B prospect I coveted and a SS with a really high ceiling who I expect to have a big bounce back season this year.
Nice talking with you KC...I enjoyed it! And I look forward to the competition when your team finally arrives.

I accept.
Wow, where to begin. Let's start with acknowledging the talent and cash that I'm giving up. McMahon is a big bat with a shot to break out if COL plays him. Story had a Storybook start to 2016 before tearing his UCL in his thumb. The power was down to start 2017, but it typically takes a year for power/bat speed to come back after that injury and he returned to form in the 2nd half. There's over $32 total across 3 seasons moving in this deal, designed to maximize my talent return while giving me cap flexibility in 2020 and beyond.
Now for what I'm getting. First of all, I wouldn't be shocked if this trade actually helps me in the 2nd half of 2018 with Calhoun, Stewart, and Swanson all either in MLB or projected to be in MLB by mid-season. Calhoun is an absolute stud in an OBP league like this one. Stewart is a 30 HR bat in his own right, who should end up in an OF corner despite his poor glove thanks to the presence of VMart and Miggy in DET. Swanson struggled a bit last year, but those growing pains are to be expected. I'm still very high on the former top 5 spec. Harrison has already debuted on some fantasy top 100 spec lists this winter, though he's a boom or bust type depending on his ability to make more contact. The tools are there for him to become a true 5 tool start if he can make more contact though. The 3rd rounder helps me justify some of the cash that I'm sending in the deal. I need more time to figure out the going rate for picks, but I was comfortable enough with the rate that I baked into this deal.
Nice talking with you as well LAD, I'm sure we'll pull off other deals soon.
