My rationale: I'm not sure if I'm competing or rebuilding this year, but I figure that this trade can help me no matter what I decide, because Moran, while not exactly a star, may very well produce for me for years to come. I can see him being a .340-.350 OBP type of guy with 10-15 HR- a decent bench bat and a capable stopgap 3B while Longoria is injured. He won't cost me too much this year (in fact, this trade saves me a little, which is good because I'm running out of money) and as a bonus won't for the next 2 years as well.

RP is a position of strength- I've almost always won the SV+HD category, at least. Although exchanging doolittle to rondon is undoubtedly a downgrade, in many ways, I think I can take the hit. RP is the one area of my team where I have a little bit of depth, and Rondon should be serviceable, even if there is regression.

I'm a little bit worried that I could have gotten more value at the trade deadline- Doolittle having elite stats, a great team, and an amazing contract, so he might have fetched a return that is slightly better than this. I'll hopefully never know, and waiting until 1 month from now would really hurt me because I quite literally do not have anybody to play in my 3B slot in the meantime.

I agree to the deal. I am upgrading at RP, I really dont like my chances of making the playoffs at this point, but this is probably my last little push for it. I am a big fan of Moran’s, but I have several 3B so he was expendable. Thanks Chipper for the easy deal. I wish you luck moving forward.
