With this trade, I know that I'm losing value. Whitley is a top 10 spec and Yusniel and Ruiz can sometimes even barely be top 100. And the third round pick dosent make up for that.

However:

1) I haven't received a better offer despite having Whitley on my trade block for many weeks.
2) This is where I trust my gut and research and say that not only do I heavily prefer hitting prospects, but that Whitley's recent injuries are indicators of what is to come. I think that Whitley, who already had TJ surgery, will get TJ surgery again, and his value will be ruined. In short, I'm betting against Whitley's health.
3) This is a case of player preference. I think Yusniel is undervalued relative to his potential and floor (he's one of my favorite players in the minors because of his BB rate which I think is a good indicator of future success) and I'm not opposed to a lottery ticket in Keibert, especially for a catcher.

I can see KC's side of the trade obviously. And trust me, it was painful for me to do a 3 for 1 (which tend to not work out anyway). I hope I don't see Whitley become a future ace.
