My pick to win the championship has surged back to #1 in the Power Rankings. San Francisco Giants slipped a little bit this month from 1 to 5 due to loses to BAL and TEX in July but just added a couple of big bats to boast its chance in the playoffs. Atlanta Braves had a rough month going 0-3 seeing its chances to make the playoffs get tougher and will need a strong finish to the season to make the playoffs. New York Yankees had a great month to bring them right into playoff contention. Angels and Orioles had good months perhaps to push them towards the playoffs. The defending champs (Pittsburgh) have seen their playoff hopes sipping, but they are not dead yet. Dbacks went 0-3 this month seeing their playoff hopes to a hault and they will need a 5-0 finish or 4-0-1 to have any hope. The trade deadline is approaching and it will be interesting to see what contenders add to their cause.
