Fairly simple trade. I like Lugo. He's been a top 100 player this year and has Sp/Rp eligibility. He also is a bargain for next year too. I also like getting rid of Votto's contract. He hasn't been altogether that terrible (rank 257) but definitely not worth his contract and I was getting sick of him. This frees up 12 dollars for free agency or whatever I want next year. Good trade Chicago, if Votto bounces back this could prove to be great value for you.

Pretty quick trade here, and we're happy to accept the offer.
Even though we just acquired 1B E. Hosmer we figured we could always use a dependable MLB bat for the next few seasons. We see Votto as a $12.00 player in 2020 and then we'll offer him a QO in 2021 at a lesser amount. We have enjoyed Lugo on our staff as a SP/RP who gets solid numbers but we see him as a replaceable arm. Also, it's much easier to trade for a bat instead of bidding for one in the off season.
