Minor League Rules
Rosters
81 - teams have their own 25 man Minor League Roster (MiLB) for amassing rookies and/or prospects.
82 – all players on the MiLB roster are protected, meaning nobody is allowed to create an auction for a player currently on a MiLB roster or add a player to to their MiLB roster.
83 - teams will have their own 5 man ‘Upper Minors’ Roster for players that have exhausted their minor league eligibility and are on or under 600 AB / 200 IP / 80 Games Pitched. Players on your UMR will not count towards your MLB salary cap. You may drop players from your UMR for no penalty.
84 - teams will have their own ‘Lower Minors’ Roster following the 1st season (See Rule 90)
Drafting
85 - the initial Minor League Draft That allows managers the opportunity to augment their MiLB roster begins TBD. The initial Minor League Draft will be 20 rounds. The initial draft will be snaking style randomized by www.draftordergenerator.com/
86 - To qualify for the Initial MiLB Draft, a player must not have exceeded 130 AB / 50 IP / 30 Game Pitched and must be signed with an MLB organization prior to the start of the Initial MiLB Draft.
87 - the Minor league draft is conducted within the 'MiLB’' section of this Proboard, on the appropriate sub-board for the year in question.
88 - the following seasons we will hold a Rookie Draft each year that will last 5 rounds.
89 - To qualify for the Rookie Draft players must have signed with an MLB organization after the commencement of the previous season's draft and have not exceeded 130 AB / 50 IP /30 Games Pitched
90 - Players drafted in the Rookie Draft will be stored on the ‘Low Minors’ roster. These players must be promoted to the MiLB roster before the next season’s draft unless they have 0 IP or AB in the MiLB or to the MLB roster if they have exceeded (50 IP / 130 AB / 30 Games Pitched)
91 – teams are allocated a position in the Rookie draft based upon their regular season finish of the previous season. The team that finished in last place will receive the first pick, while the team that finished in first place will receive the 20th pick. All other teams in-between these two extremes will be aligned to a draft position in accordance with that principle. The draft is non-snaking, meaning the draft position for each team will be maintained for each and every round.
92 - any blatant indication that a team has purposefully tanked in its performance, deliberately negating its competitiveness with the sole intention of gaining a higher draft position, will be considered an abuse of the system. Such abuses will result in the forfeiture of the higher draft position gained in this way and discretion will be exercised to determine the final draft position of that team.
93 - the draft method employed is the traditional standard ‘pick’ format. Managers are required to simply state the name of the player, and his parent club, on the appropriate thread when it is their turn to pick.
94 - Teams will have 12 hours to make a pick. If a manager has not made his pick within 12 hours of the previous pick declaration, that pick will be skipped and the draft may continue. The manager of the skipped pick may make his selection at anytime but cannot select a player that has been drafted since he was skipped.
95 - once the draft officially concludes with the scheduled final pick. In the event that a manager who has had a pick, or picks, skipped has not drafted his full allocation of prospects by this time then they will have 24 hours to make their picks or will forfeit those picks.
96 - once a manager has declared which player he is selecting that decision may not be retracted for any reason.
Roster Transactions
97 - Prospects may be added after our minor league draft and in -season to your minor league roster if a player is on or under 130 AB/ 50 IP / 30 Games Pitched if the player was signed to an MLB organization prior to the start of the minor league draft, and if you have a vacated spot due to call ups, trades, drops, ect.
*Players may NOT be added to the LOW MINORS starting September 27th 2021
98 - When adding, promoting, demoting, or dropping a minor league player you must post in the ‘Roster Transactions’ thread that you are adding, promoting, demoting, or dropping that player.
99 - Players with 0 MLB experience may not be called up to the MLB roster unless that have been promoted by their real life team.
100 - Prospects can move up and down between your major league roster, minor league roster, and ‘Upper Minors’ as long as they have not exceeded (130 AB/ 50 IP/30 games pitched). Once a player is promoted from the Low Minors roster they may not be demoted back.
101 - teams must promote players to the necessary roster once they have exceeded (130 AB /50 IP/30 Games pitched) or Upper Minors eligibility (600 AB/200 IP/ 80 Games Pitched) within 48 hours of completion of the game in which they surpassed the limits.
*If teams fail to promote players to the necessary roster that player could be vulnerable to free agency after the 48 hour time.
* Starting September 27th 2021; Prospects that exceed minor league eligibility can stay on the roster they reside on for the remainder of the season, If they are promoted while over the limits they will no longer be allowed to go back down to the Upper Minors or MilB roster. Keep in mind with this players will still lose a year of eligibility even if they sit in your minors all year because there clock starts once they pass the rookie limits.
102 - If a player is demoted to the MiLB roster that player may not be promoted back to the MLB roster until 10 days has passed. There are 2 exceptions to that rule:
1)If a team, after demoting a player, places someone else on the disabled list before 10 days have elapsed, the team can (with the Commissioner's approval) bring the demoted player back to their MLB roster before that 10-day waiting period expires.
2)If the player is traded during the 10-day period, the team that acquires him may put him on its MLB roster right away.
Salaries & Contracts
103 - A minor league player will receive the league minimum for the first 3 years of their contract and will have 2 Arbitration years to follow. Their contract will not officially start until they have exceeded (130 AB/50 IP/ 30 Games Pitched).
Rookie Contract:
1st-3rd year = $0.50
4th year = Arbitration
5th year = Arbitration
Arbitration
104 - players Arbitration eligible will follow the formula below based on their final yahoo rank the past season.
1-25 previous season’s salary X 600%
26-50 previous season’s salary X 480%
51-100 previous season’s salary X 350%
101-200 previous season’s salary X 200%
200+ previous season’s salary X 150%
105 - teams have 3 options for arbitration eligible players. 1) Accept their new salary based on the formula above. 2) Accept a qualifying offer on a 1 year deal. 3) Decline arbitration and allow player to go into the Offseason Free Agent Pool as a regular FA. You would receive the 20% hometown discount in bidding. If you do not win the player in the auction you will get a compensation pick if the player was ranked 1-50.
MiLB Waivers
106 - Prior to the start of each new season the Waiver priority will be reset in inverse order to the previous seasons standings; i.e. the last placed team gets the highest priority and the first place team gets the lowest priority. The only exception is that the league champion and the league runner up will always fall last and second to last.
107 - Any player may be released at any time by his team. All released player automatically are placed on Waivers for a 24 hour period. After those 24 hours, the team with the highest priority who has an active claim for the player acquires the player. After the MiLB Draft and Rookie Drafts all eligible undrafted players will be placed on waivers for 24 hours.
108 - After the 24 hour waiver period has passed, if the player has not been claimed, he immediately becomes a free agent and is available to all teams on a first come-first serve basis.
109 - The team who waived the player cannot claim the player off waivers. That team must wait until the player clears waivers and becomes a free agent before reacquiring the player.
110 - Teams must have an open Minor League roster spot for a Waiver claim to be processed. You must clarify who you will be dropping in order to make an open roster spot.
111 - No player may be Waiver claimed who has exceeded 130 AB/ 50 IP / 30 Games Pitched onto a MiLB roster.
112 - In order to make a claim on a player you have 2 options: 1) Message the commissioner privately 2) Post your claim in the player thread under minor league drops
