I need to take a moment to help you understand the difference between MLB Waivers and MiLB Waivers for those of you that have not caught on yet. I've made a couple of changes to the set up of MiLB Waivers to help this be more efficient.
MLB Waivers
MLB Waivers is there to reflect a similar system to major league baseball. These are almost the exact rules following the MLB. This is for drawing interest in trades past the trade deadline and also giving you the opportunity to rid yourself of a contract without buying out the player. If you have any questions I will do the best I can to answer. I have a hard time explaining these waivers. This does not officially open until May 1st.
52 - To be as realistic to Major League Baseball as possible, we will have a waiver system. Waivers will close on August 31st and reopen October 2nd.
53 - To place a player on MLB waivers please post the name of the player and his salary in the sub-board titled ‘MLB Waivers’.
54 - Once a player is put on waivers, all of the teams have the option to claim the player if they choose to.
*To clarify the player will remain on the team’s roster. If you would like to drop the player see rule 61
55 - After a player has been put on waivers, teams have 48 hours to place a claim.
56 - Once a player has been claimed, the two negotiating teams will have 72 hours to work out a deal. If a team claims a player, there are three possible outcomes:
Option 1: The team that claimed the player and the team that posted the player can work out a trade involving any player(s).
Option 2: If after the time limit a deal is not reached, the team that posted the player on waivers can elect to receive nothing in return for the player. The Team that claimed said player is responsible for this player’s contract in full, and therefore is awarded this player. The team that placed this player on waivers no longer has any contractual responsibility.
Option 3: The team that posted the player on waivers can simply elect to keep the player on their roster.
57 - Once a decision has been made on which option has been chosen, post it as soon as possible. You do not have to wait the full 72 hours to make a transaction.
58 - One other note: A player may only be placed on waivers 3 times during a season.
59 - If more than one team claims the player from waivers, the team with the weakest record in the league gets preference. In the first month of the season, preference is determined using the previous year's standings. If no one claims the player he will be remain on the team's roster.
MiLB Waivers
MiLB Waivers is completely different from MLB Waivers. I made a change to this process as well. Instead of having a place for MiLB Waivers, I have separated Minor League Adds/Drops into two separate subboards. From now on you need to create a thread to drop a player in the Minor League Drop subboard. This is where MiLB Waivers will take place. To make a claim on a player it must be under 24 hours and following rule 112 you can either message the commissioners privately or post your claim in the player thread where he was dropped.
106 - Prior to the start of each new season the Waiver priority will be reset in inverse order to the previous seasons standings; i.e. the last placed team gets the highest priority and the first place team gets the lowest priority. The only exception is that the league champion and the league runner up will always fall last and second to last.
107 - Any player may be released at any time by his team. All released player automatically are placed on Waivers for a 24 hour period. After those 24 hours, the team with the highest priority who has an active claim for the player acquires the player. After the MiLB Draft and Rookie Drafts all eligible undrafted players will be placed on waivers for 24 hours.
108 - After the 24 hour waiver period has passed, if the player has not been claimed, he immediately becomes a free agent and is available to all teams on a first come-first serve basis.
109 - The team who waived the player cannot claim the player off waivers. That team must wait until the player clears waivers and becomes a free agent before reacquiring the player.
110 - Teams must have an open Minor League roster spot for a Waiver claim to be processed. You must clarify who you will be dropping in order to make an open roster spot.
111 - No player may be Waiver claimed who has exceeded 130 AB/ 50 IP / 30 Games Pitched onto a MiLB roster.
112 - In order to make a claim on a player you have3 2 options: 1) Message the commissioner privately 2) Post in the MiLB waiver thread. 3) Post your claim in the Roster transactions thread. 2) Post your claim in the player thread under Minor League Drops
