This isn’t really prompted by any recent trade, because there aren’t any of the recent trades I would veto. But it did occur to me that if there WAS a trade that would need to be vetoed, it really couldn’t happen. It feels like the system we have right now is symbolic rather than functional- the odds of having enough of teams online to even vote to veto during a 24h period is low, and we usually get like 5 votes per trade (some of which are the teams trading), which isn’t enough to veto anyway.
a sub point to this observation is that: if we’re never going to have a trade vetoed anyway (and to my knowledge one has never been vetoed), why have the symbolic 24 waiting period in the first place?
guess what I’m saying is that I would prefer to have commissioner veto in the future or a trade committee of people Oakland picks. I trust Oakland enough to make the right judgment call and be unbiased, and that way we could have a system that works if we need it+could scrap the 24 hour waiting period

I definitely agree with you Atlanta that are veto process is almost a mute point. It’s not that it couldn’t happen but it seems unlikely. For whatever reason people just don’t seem to vote (I know I don’t bother sometimes) Maybe it’s because people believe the trade is fine and they don’t care? Generally 80% of the league checks in every 24 hrs this time of year so it’s not impossible, but nobody is voting.
I see two alternative options IF we want to make a change.
1) Create a trade committee that consists of one representative from each division. 2) Allow me to monitor all trades, and if I think the trade is really lopsided I will flag it and put it to a league vote and see that the entire league votes before allowing the trade to pass or be vetoed.

I normally don't see any really lopsided trades here in this league. This time of year people trade to get pieces to build with and trade off rental players for other teams to make a playoff run. I traded several players myself to build for the future.

I agree a trade committee is a good idea. In other leagues there have been egregious trades that needed to be stopped for the good of the league. Its a nice safeguard.

It seems most like the idea of a trade committee, does anyone else have any thoughts or ideas?

Honestly, I prefer commissioner veto because I trust OAK a lot and it would make it faster and more fluid. But if we have a trade committee composed of super active owners, I would be fine with that as well. (I wouldn't want to be one of the members fwiw)

If we do a trade committee like I said it would be 1 representative from each division and yes it would have to be someone that is highly active and gets on regularly. Trades would require 3 votes to approve. Once it gets to 3 votes the trade can pass.

Could also do a trade committee but ultimately the commish has the final say because what if someone in the committee makes a trade they shouldn't be a loud to vote on own trade
