Reasoning:


Rodon has been an ace this year and one of the best pitchers in the majors.  I'm a believer in his success, which means that having a caliber of his pitcher for an 85 cent contract for 3 years is very valuable.  It's a move that helps now AND the future.   The prospects and picks I'm giving up have value, but being able to headline this trade with Pena who is only the #50th ranked prospect or so is significant to me.  Of course, I'm giving up 3 good prospects, so while I'm not giving a top tier prospect I'm giving up a lot of depth- but you have to pay to get.  My 1st round pick is also one of the more valuable parts of this trade but I'm hoping it's more towards the end of the round and Oakland's fourth rounder may be closer to the front.  I think this is a fair deal, good working Oakland.

Agreed. I agree with Atlanta I believe Rodon is for real it was always a matter of getting healthy for him. That being said I felt I needed to boost my farm system as I believe I’m still a couple of years away from being where I want to be. Pena I think could be a future star but has a long ways to go. I like getting a MI in Edwards even if he does t provide much pop. I think there is some upside with Acuna and I loved getting another high draft pick. Thanks for the deal ATL.
