With the auction coming to a close I wanted to go over the trading process for a second so everyone know what to once trading starts. I know a lot of you are familiar with this process, but some of you are probably not.
When agreeing to a trade one owner needs to post the trade in the "Pending Trades" board. In this post you should include all the trade details and also include a poll like the one I included in this thread. All owners involved in the trade need to give a brief explanation of why the trade makes sense for their ballclub. By doing this it helps people understand people's motives and help everyone understand dynasty baseball.
Example:
Oakland Athletics trade:
Anthony Rizzo $18.25/1 year
$2 cash for 2017
2018 3rd round pick
Pittsburgh Pirates trade:
Buster Posey $14.50/1 year
2018 1st round pick
I agree to this trade. I needed a solid catcher for this year and like moving up 2 rounds in the draft. I hate losing Rizzo but filling the need at catcher is huge for me.
I will remind you of Rule 78 - any sort of trade in this league is possible as long as both teams receive something even if it is just $0.10. Multi-team trades, draft picks, salary dumps, cash considerations etc. Trade clauses (no trade, no option etc.) can also be inserted into trades. Use your imagination within the fair play spirit of this league. With that in mind, try not to abuse the right to veto trades, as anything goes.
Please keep in mind that this is a Dynasty league and the value of players, picks, and prospects are weighted much differently by everyone, and each owner reserves the right to manage their team the way they see fit. It takes years to figure out if a trade was balanced or not (and i will remind you this is how real life is). If an opinion is voiced it should be done so in a respectful manor.
There are only a few reasons to veto a trade:
1) It compromises the integrity of the league
2) Collusion is taking place (In which case this should be reported to the commissioner which will result in expulsion from the league.)
3) An owner has neglected his team and been consistently inactive questioning his ability to make quality longterm decisions for his team.
If this process ever becomes a problem we will change it to a league council review or a trade committee review but I don't think we should have any problems as there has never been any problems in GM Club.
