I agree to this trade. Love adding a top closer on an improving Reds team and a setup man on the best team in the NL. With picking up Ozuna that softens the blow of losing Stanton. hated losing Acuna but have a couple of other options at 2B for the future.

In acquiring Diaz from Chicago I was looking to flip him for prospects or a nice young bat. I got the prospects and both of these I really like. Acuna looks poised to be a great natural hitter with a very interesting skill set for the future. Varland is a very interesting arm who I’m also high on. I didn’t want to be half in/half out with RP so I decided to cash on them now and look to punt that category while maximizing my potential in the others.
Stanton is the opposite of the player I typically acquire but I was seeking to add some power to my lineup which it currently lacks. Crossing my fingers he can stay healthy and have a hot second half. My OF also happens to be pretty much set for next couple of seasons regardless of what happens with Ronald Acuna’s pending FA this offseason.
