It has been brought to the attention of the league council that a member of our league will not be able to access their computer/internet to participate in the auctions on the date that the auctions are set to start (December 27th 12:00AM EST). Obviously this is detrimental to the possible outcome of this individuals' team, and the league in general, as a competitive balance is key. This is not a vote, simply a forum to gather opinions from the league about possibly pushing the start of the auctions to January 2nd 12:00AM EST. This is only a five day push, and the aforementioned owner would be able to participate. I urge the entire league to voice an opinion even if it is as simple as "I'm okay with pushing the auctions". We understand that owners may have already made plans for the current date set as well so all information is appreciated as we attempt to accommodate everyone. If you are not comfortable voicing your opinion publicly you may absolutely PM/Email/contact Pittsburgh/Oakland/Chicago White Sox individually. Please be respectful when communicating your thoughts.

Perfectly fine with me. While it's hard to contain my enthusiasm for the auction it doesn't affect my ability to participate and I get 5 more days to prepare!

I am also ok with this. I think pushing it past the new year is smart. I know I have family in town in between Christmas and New Years Eve plus work so it would help me out as well.

I.guess it's fine, 5 days isn't too much imo. Competitive balance is important, I think, as well

Grace is important. Push it back five days. More prep time. And in fact, the original three days was during my vacation and I was going to have to be on my phone. This is a blessing.

How long would you guess the draft is going to last? I will be out of the country from January 9th-14th. I would expect the draft to last several weeks. It wouldn't surprise me if only a handful of players had been fully drafted by January 9th if we start on the 2nd. It would be a good idea for everyone to share any significant periods of unavailability in January, February, and March. I think we could get away with starting on the 15th. Feb 1st is probably about the latest we could start. |
