How long would you guess the draft is going to last? I will be out of the country from January 9th-14th. I anticipate 6-7 weeks probably. No internet access at all? It only requires about 3-5 minutes a day of getting on and placing bids. If you have no internet access we will need to back it up further then. Like Washington said we probably can't go to much further back however.

Having everyone on board and at the keyboard is essential. If we start the 16th of January that still puts us done by early March. Plenty of time.

I'm going to be on a cruise so I'm not saying that I 100% won't have internet access but I don't know how reliable it will be or how often I will be able to check in. If you guys decide to start the draft while/before I'm on the cruise that's fine, I won't hold any grudges. I should have made it clear earlier I was going on this trip, but it honestly slipped my mind.

I feel like there will always be something that can come up, why dont we start on the 1st, go until the 9th, then pause until the 14th, then resume

Thats ridiculous Atlanta- just relax. The Auction hasn't started yet, theres no sense rockin the boat here. In all fairness to LAA lets just start on Jan. 16 when he gets back.

Ridiculous? Do you consider it a great task to pause the draft? What's the point in wasting 8 good days when everyone is free?

Theres no rush here, its not like the season starts next month. This is my 1st chance at this type of draft, it could be a tad confusing, why start, then pause only to restart again. We can just wait until LAA gets back and start on Jan. 16.

Well, we can let the league decide. I don't understand why it would be hard to just pause lol

I say we start when everyone is available to draft and continue until the end.

I say we start when everyone is available to draft and continue until the end. The problem is that there are really low odds that EVERYONE will be available for the ENTIRE 2 months the draft will last. I believe that at some point a pause will be unevitable; and to be honest, will not be that hard to do. Just pause the pids, and reset the clock to 24 hours when we get back.

I think the "pause" is a viable option. 1st of all, we don't know how crazy/stressful this continual draft might be. LOL It might be a good idea to take a break after the 1st week (Jan. 2 - 9) while LAA is at sea. It would give us time to reassess and see which way our teams might want to go as I am surmising the "lay of the land" will change from day to day. I am wiling to do whatever the league decides, but I rather like starting the 2nd and then pausing from the 9th-14. And then resuming. We might find other "holes" in peoples schedules we could accommodate and as Cleveland so rightly points out. We do have some time.

My two cents is I bet a few people have never done an auction format like we have set up. I can imagine it could get chaotic at first until people settle into the flow. The flow may take others longer to adjust to. Maybe starting and then pausing is a good thing in the sense it will give people a small opportunity to see how it works. In time I'm sure some people will readjust their own thought up strategies and see where their own flaws were initially.
