HERE ARE THE OFFICIAL rules for the COVID LIST/COVID REPLACEMENTS
A lot of these rules are straight from Dodgers league (Which is one of the league this on was founded from) just reworded to fit our league. Some of you understand this rule and it will make sense
– each team has unlimited COVID spots available to them.
- a player is only considered to be on the COVID list when designated as such by Yahoo. A player will be considered to be reactivated from the COVID list if either designated as such by Yahoo, or if it is clearly apparent that his return to the lineup for his MLB team is imminent (ie he is scheduled to be in his MLB teams starting line up on the same game day that you drop his COVID replacement).
– if a player on your active roster goes on the COVID List you may immediately move him to a COVID spot by announcing the transaction on proboards and add any eligible player from the free agent pool, or from your minor league roster as a COVID Replacement. When adding a player from the free agent pool that player must remain on your roster for a minimum of 1 game day so as not to abuse his waiver status.
- players ineligible to be picked up as COVID replacements are:
- players involved in active auctions
- players on waivers
- players on another team’s minor league roster
- players that you have previously cut from your active roster
- players who are without at least 1 PA or 0.1 IP at MLB level (with the exception of such players from your own minor league roster). Such players become available to be used as COVID Replacement the day after* they have attained at least 1 PA or 0.1 IP in a game that has been declared 'final' by MLB. Such players availability for COVID Replacement service also depends on their waiver status; it is not possible to add such a player if he is still on waivers.
*refers to the new Yahoo 'day' which begins at 00:01 PT.
– players added from the FA pool as COVID Replacements cost nothing, and may only be allocated a COVID contract.
- COVID contracts are temporary, and at their maximum can only last the length of the season.
– when activating a player from the COVID list back onto your roster, a player signed as a COVID replacement may be dropped for zero cap hit.
- players that are signed to a COVID contract are not tied to a specific player on the COVID list. You may choose to keep the same player on a COVID contract if you have multiple players rotating between your active roster and the COVID list at the same time.
- when a player is activated after being on the COVID list, a manager has two game days in which to drop a COVID Replacement. So if a player is activated from the COVID list on a Monday, a manager has until before the commencement of Wednesday’s MLB games to drop a COVID replacement. If a manager does not drop a COVID replacement in that period the commissioner will make the necessary drop for that team. In the event that the team has more than one COVID replacement the commissioner will drop the COVID replacement who was added specifically for the returning player.
- you may not make use of a player activated from the COVID list and his COVID replacement at the same time. For example, if you reactivate a player from the COVID list and move him to an empty roster spot then it would be possible to use both the player and his COVID replacement at the same time. This is not allowed, either the player stays in a COVID spot for up to two days or if activated a COVID replacement must be dropped.
- players dropped as COVID Replacements are subject to a 24 hour waiver
- if you have a COVID replacement who himself goes on the COVID list/IL/NA then he may be dropped for zero cap hit and a fresh COVID replacement may be picked up and installed in his place.
- if you drop/buyout a player from your active roster who is listed as COVID then a COVID replacement can be attached to that player and that COVID replacement can be cut for zero cap hit when both players are dropped in combination.
– if you have a COVID replacement that you wish to sign to a real contract, then this can be done using the regular auction process, using the predefined auction rules. Throughout the auction the COVID Replacement will remain on your roster and will of course stay there if you win the auction. If the auction is won by another manager then the player will be removed from your roster and placed instead on the roster of the winning team as soon as he is sold.
– you can only create auctions for COVID replacements on your own roster, and auctions for them must be started before the COVID replacement player is scheduled to go back to the FA pool. In this case, the player must still return to the pool on schedule, but is ineligible to be used as a COIVD replacement by anyone else.
- auctions for DLRs onto your active roster can be done up until the roster freeze.
- once the regular season of our Yahoo league has ended, managers who did not make, or have been eliminated from, the playoffs are not allowed to pick up or drop COVID Replacements, even if they have corresponding events.
– at the end of the season, any player assigned to a COVID contract will be removed from the roster and will not be eligible for either the Off season free agency or a comp pick.
