I like the idea of making this a special exception. Obviously most of the guys on this year's low minors didn't play at all so we need an extra year to evaluate. A second idea would be to increase the number of slots, but keep the 1 year of eligibility for everyone except from the 2020 draft. This way teams with a lot of picks can use them all, but would still need to transfer all of them a year later. Hey Cincy, I’ve been thinking about how we are going to go about this for next year. Could you explain this idea a little more

So the idea here is that we keep the low minors at 10 slots, the MiLB roster at 25, and 5 draft rounds. This allows teams to trade for extra picks in the draft without having to worry about having too many picks. However, at the end of the year each team would have to empty their low minors in preparation for the next draft. It is at that point, after a year of evaluation that everyone would need to decide how to fit everyone into their 25 MiLB slots. This way the roster crunch decision for the minor leagues only takes place once a year in preparation for the draft. Rebuilding teams could really stockpile picks and decide which players to keep later. We could even make the low minors slots infinite, and teams can draft as many players as possible without wondering where they will fit.
I guess I like the idea because I usually keep my minors full most of the time (And I think all the really active teams do this also) so when we get to the draft and if I have extra picks I have to continue cutting my MiLB roster to make room or let later picks go to waste. It also condenses the time at which everyone is making minor league cuts and might make MiLB waivers more relevant at the end of the season.

I like the idea, the only thing about if we did infinite slots we always give teams that didn’t fill out their slots a chance to fill their rosters out through waivers so I’m not sure where we would draw the line. Or we allow infinite slots in low minors but the only way to get a player there is through a draft pick or trade. Essentially we would be cutting out the post draft waiver adds.

I think it will also work fine with 10 low minors slots.

I'm personally in favor of keeping what we have, but I might be a little confused with this proposal in general lol

I'm personally in favor of keeping what we have, but I might be a little confused with this proposal in general lol We only had 5 slots on low minors prior to this season. We didn’t require Low Minors rosters to be cleared before we went into the draft this season instead we expanded to 10 low minors slots. We made this decision due to having less players that exceeded AB/IP limits and having no minor league season at all. We felt it was fair to allow last years draftees to stay in the low minors for another year in order to evaluate the players better and potentially have more MiLB slots available due to MLB promotions.

Ah, okay. Seems reasonable
